Car Rental Agreement
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle rental requirements:
- To hire a vehicle, you must be at least 21 years old, though age limits may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence is required, along with proof of identity and current address. You will need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations for car hire can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. Prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when you picked it up, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as appropriate. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us as soon as possible, as additional fees may apply. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an applicable administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and any applicable excess amounts can be found in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional insurance is acquired. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Keep in mind that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of the Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should be used only for its intended purposes, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraudulent actions.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant courts in this region.
Updates to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Modifications take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
